preparing for Overnight camp

Helpful information to prepare for your overnight or extended-day camp sessions at Wittenberg and Lake Forest Academy.

What To Bring To Camp

Your Lacrosse Gear
Campers must be equipped according to NCAA rules with mouth guard, NOCSAE helmet with 4-point chin strap, gloves, shoulder pads and appropriate shoes. Goalies must also have a throat protector, chest protector and arm pads. Unfortunately we do not have any loaner equipment.

Bedding
You must bring your own pillow, sheets, blankets and towels. These items are not provided. Beds at Lake Forest take twin sheets, regular length. Beds at Wittenberg require extra-long twin sheets.

Fans
Dorm rooms are air-conditioned so fans should not be needed.

Shoes
It is highly recommended that campers bring broken-in (versus brand new) cleats to camp to help prevent blisters. Additionally, non-marking tennis or basketball sneakers are mandatory for indoor play. Flip flops are recommended for use in the showers.

Hygiene
Campers should bring soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and a good all purpose powder, such as Gold Bond, to alleviate chafing. Plan on using all of these items.

Personal Valuables and Electronics
Campers should NOT bring valuables or electronic devices like ipods, ipads, tablets and computers to camp. Camp staff is not able to adequately monitor safe usage or content, nor can The Lacrosse Academy be responsible for property that is lost, damaged or stolen.

Camp Notes

Camp Check In
Campers check-in from 1:00pm - 2:00pm on the first day of each camp and are free to leave after they check out from 11-11:30 a.m. on the last day of camp. After the first day of camp, extended-day campers should arrive at 8:40am and should be picked up at 8:00pm.

Room Key Deposit (Wittenberg camp only)
A $50 key deposit is required at the time of registration. Your deposit can be paid in cash or by check, both of which will be returned at check out. If making your key deposit with a check it should be a separate check from their tuition balance.

Special Diets Special dietary requests are available with advance notice. Please indicate on your camper’s medical form or in the special requests field, any dietary restrictions.

Campers’ Automobiles
Any camper driving themselves to camp MUST TURN IN HIS CAR KEYS at registration. He will not be allowed to use the car during the camp session.

Camp Bank and Store
A camp bank is offered as a service to prevent the loss of money. Deposit your camper’s money at registration and all purchases at the camp store will be deducted from his account. The camp store sells Gatorade, bottled water and, at night, pizza. At some camps merchandise and clothing may be sold. Any unspent balance in a camper’s account will be returned at check out.

Trainers on Site
A certified trainer will be at every field session and will be available at registration to review your medical form.

Obey Camp Rules

Campers will be informed of camp rules and are expected to follow them. Rules include, but are not limited to, no lying, stealing or damaging the property of others and behaving respectfully toward staff and campers. We encourage campers to leave a place better than it was when he arrived. Campers who break rules may be asked to leave camp immediately. Parents will be required to pick up their son early if he is expelled.

IMPORTANT WARNING

Lacrosse is a contact sport played with sticks and a hard ball moving at high speed. This means anyone can be injured while playing lacrosse. To reduce the risk of injury, you must exercise common sense and obey the rules at all times. Even when you play lacrosse according to the rules you expose yourself to serious injury. The protective equipment will not protect you against all injuries. Campers, and parents of campers, participating in The Lacrosse Academy accept the risks of injury.
